There has been much confusion about the difference between Dryvit and E.I.F.S. as a whole. Because Dryvit Systems Inc. was the pioneer of the E.I.F.S. industry, it has been known as one and the same. In fact, Dryvit Systems Inc. is just one of many within the E.I.F.S. industry. Here is an analogy: Xerox is a brand name of copy machines. However, from the beginning, the general name for a copy machine has been Xerox machine, or just Xerox. Another analogy: tissues have been labeled Kleenex, while Kleenex is merely a brand of tissues, and should not be confused with the entire tissue industry. The same is true of Dryvit and the E.I.F.S. industry.
